Mind The Gap

My sister-in-law is just graduated with her master's degree from BU and Mind the Gap was her thesis film. Her film was accepted into the LDS Film Festival for 2009 in the short film category. I was able to go with her to see all the short films, and I may be a bit bias since she is my sister-in-law, but her film was by far the best one there. Her film won 1st place in the short film category as well as the audience choice award. Yeah for her. Hahaha and lucky for us her trophy was too heavy and big to pack so we get to put it on our mantle and show it off to everyone.

So here is a brief synopsis of her film:

MIND THE GAP

Mind The Gap follows sixteen-year-old Sara, as she grapples with her father’s inadvertent involvement in a classmate’s suicide. Unfortunately, this is nothing new for Sara’s family. As Sara explains, the average train engineer is likely to hit as many as 30 people over the course of his career. While Sara’s school mourns the loss of one of their own, Sara views her father as the true victim of the incident. Through Sara's inner monologue, we’re given entry into the tragic side of public transit, and become aware of the wall Sara has built up to protect herself, as well as her father, from their grief.

You can go to this link and see her trailer to her film. I am not smart enough to figure out how to put the clip in the post.
