3 Letters.....IVY - RSV - ICU - PCH

This poor girl spent 10 days in ICU in February.  She was not a happy girl having to have a feeding tube, and all the monitors hooked up to her.  She especially disliked the nurses that had to come in and clean out her nose and throat.

They had to finally wrap her little hand so that she would leave the monitors alone.  She would tear them off and she would flat line, so they had to tape and wrap all the monitor to her face and body.

Ivy is normally a happy baby and she would try to put on a happy face and wave to us.  Probably for our benefit as we would sit and watch her.  She would try to wave to us with every ounce of energy her little body to muster.

Like her big sister she loves to watch Frozen, so we would put that on our phones so she could watch it. She would try to sing..."Let it go" or "Do you want to build a snowman", which usually was just weezing, but I think it distracted her for a few minutes.

She was thrilled that she got to at least take the monitors off.  She was yanking them off anyways so the nurses took most of them off since they weren't really getting accurate reading since Ivy would tear them off her anyways every few minutes.  And a happy day when the feeding tube finally came out.  She was not a fan of that at all.  Poor thing she had to have it put in twice as one nurse that came in to suction out her nose accidentally pulled it out.  She was more than willing to let them pull it out.  Although, after a few days she gave up fighting them when they came suction her out, and just let them as much as she detested it.  Even at one years old she is a bit sassy.  A doctor came in to listen to her breath and Ivy held her breath as long as she could.  The doctor kinda laughed that she was trying to make it difficult.

She picked up this folding arms thing from the Dr.'s at Primary Children's Hospital.  After about 8 days in ICU she was finally moved from ICU to a regular room, where she got to eat regular food and bottles.  She got to be out of her bed for the first time as well and this is the pose that she did when we wanted to take a picture.  Every morning and afternoon the Dr.'s would come in and talk and go over her case and they would all come in and fold their arms as they talked.  Ivy I guess picked that up.  It was her favorite thing to do.  I think she was really just mocking the Dr.'s. Finally a smile, she knew she was going to get to go home!

After about two and half weeks of being sick and spending most of that time in the hospital, Ivy was happy to be at home all bathed and with her family.

Couldn't image life without this sweet girl.  They say that she won't remember this experience cause she is too young, but something changed in her after this experience.  When she came home from the hospital, she couldn't give people enough hugs and kisses.  When she didn't like what you were doing she would fold her arms and give you a look and a lecture.....well in her one year old attitude.  She has a lot of spunk and the world better watch out cause she may be little now, but a spitfire in up and coming!
